Adam Blevins is a trauma-informed resident in counseling, former Virginia State Trooper, and the founder of SHIFT WORK Training, Consulting & Media. He began his career in corrections before serving as a state trooper and later as the Operations Director for the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program (VALEAP). Adam holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and he is currently pursuing a PhD in Trauma-Informed Care.
Adam is a Resident in Counseling, an EMDR provider, is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CCISM), and is an International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) approved instructor with more than 1,000 hours of training delivered nationwide. He has extensive experience coordinating and responding to critical incidents including officer-involved shootings, mass shootings, mass-casualty events, line-of-duty-deaths, suicides, natural disasters, civil unrest, child fatalities, high-profile incidents, major crash investigations, and more.
Throughout his career, Adam has trained and supported every corner of the public safety and human services community, law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatch, corrections, probation/parole, prosecutors, DSS/CPS, victim-witness, ICAC, military, veteran services, emergency healthcare, behavioral health, and crisis teams. He has developed peer support teams from the ground up and partnered with hundreds of agencies and wellness providers across Virginia and the US.
Adam serves as a governor-appointed member of the Virginia Criminal Justice Services Board and is recognized for helping shift the mental-health culture within first responder organizations. He is the host of The S.H.I.F.T. Show podcast, a seasoned public speaker, and the author of Welcome to the S.H.I.F.T. Show: How to Love Yourself in a World That Won’t. His work blends frontline experience, clinical insight, and trauma-informed education to strengthen resilience, improve organizational wellness, and support the humans who keep our communities alive.

Brittany is a trauma-informed resident in counseling whose practice is on pause as she mothers a beautiful son. She is a former Virginia State Police dispatcher, and co-founder of SHIFT WORK Training, Consulting & Media. With a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she brings a powerful blend of frontline experience and clinical expertise to the world of first responder wellness.
Her career has spanned nearly every corner of public safety and mental health. She has served in community mental health, school-based counseling, correctional mental health, courthouse services, and as a crisis pre-screener, giving her a rare, comprehensive understanding of how trauma impacts individuals, families, and systems. She is EMDR-trained and deeply experienced in CISM, peer support operations, and crisis response efforts across law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatch, and behavioral health.
As a former dispatcher, she carries firsthand insight into the emotional weight of the unseen voices, the invisible trauma of the headset, and the operational realities faced by communication professionals. She has responded to and supported personnel through officer-involved shootings, child fatalities, major crashes, suicides, mass casualty events, and other high-impact critical incidents.
Brittany is an aspiring author and a passionate healer of the human spirit. Her work is rooted in compassion, clarity, and cultural understanding, helping first responders reconnect with themselves, recover from what they’ve carried, and build the resilience needed to continue showing up for their communities and their families.
Her commitment, both personally and professionally, continues to shape the mission and heartbeat of SHIFT WORK: to serve those who serve others.
